#7 Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan
Standing 7,570 meters high, Gangkhar Pensum in Bhutan is not the tallest, but the tallest unclimbed mountain in the world. Because of lack of maps, and the ban of hiking on the mountain in Bhutan, these mountains are one of the last uncharted places on planet earth. The “three mountain siblings” is the ultimate climbing adventure for any hiker, and will probably always be drawing more and more attention to those who like to stare danger and risk in the face.

The Greenland ice sheet is said to be 110,000 years old and is still standing. Known for it’s harsh winds and bitter temperatures, this particular sheet of ice is exposed to one of the harshest environments on planet earth. Exploring and getting around the obstacles of the cave Sarma is not the first adventure…finding it is. Hidden for such a long time, and only recently discovered, Sarma is the world second biggest discovered cave. 1,830 meters below earths surface, there is always the potential for flooding, unexpected obstacles and utter darkness. This cave is one of the biggest goals for cavers around the world, and one of the most challenging. If you expect to spend your adventurous getaway exerting a lot of physical and mental work, the Sarma cave is the one destination you can count on not to be disappointing!

Why travel if you don’t feel some kind of excitement when you’re doing it? Well, there’s no question, if you are on the Kamchatka Peninsula, you are guaranteed to always be on your toes. You are walking on an active land. This peninsula has over 160 volcanoes that reach it’s surface, and 29 of them are fully active. To distract you from these volcanoes are the surrounding mountains with lots and lots of trails to be hiked and lots and lots of panoramic pictures to be taken. Once you can get over the expectation of an almost guaranteed earthquake, it is really a peaceful sight.

Into underwater exploration? Travel to the deepest spot in the Pacific Ocean, known as the Mariana trench. There has only been three recorded descents into this deep dark abyss and is said to be 10,994 meters deep...that’s 6.831 miles deep! About seven miles does not seem to be so deep, but think about the average diving depth for deep see diving is only about 30 meters, 98 feet, or only 0.0170 miles. Now that’s impressive. Come test your lung strength and sanity as you dive deeper and deeper into the unknown.
