#9 Christ of the Abyss
A bronze statue of Jesus Christ is now submerged near the Mediterranean Sea. The sculpture might have seemed as though it was an accident, but it was actually the idea was from Duilio Marcante, an Italian diver. Guido Galletti soon created it and placed in the sea, where the arms of Jesus Christ Rises up to toward the heavens. The statue now suffers from corrosion and natural ocean crustaceans.
#8 Sunken Yacht in Antarctica
This unique beautiful looking image was actually a huge mistaken made by four Brazilian men who were sight-seeing Antarctica and its vast wonders. Unfortunately the high wings and ice compression caused the boat to sink, and it was left to be sucked into the cold Antarctic Sea. All men were rescued and alright in the end though.
#7 El Hotel Del Salto in Colombia
This beautiful abandoned hotel is now a major tourist attraction. It opened in 1928 off the edge of a cliff to have a breath taking view of Tequendama Falls. Since it was off the edge of a cliff, it was not uncommon for people to commit suicide. It is now known for its astonishing view, history, and haunted back story. To this day, people claim to see silhouettes of people in the fog and mist.
#6 Russian Military Rocket Factory
This Soviet Rocket factory was actually breached by an adventurous young lady, and took astonishing photos. The corroding metal and small peaks of light make it look like a crazy star wars space ship. The Soviet Rocket motors are still there and were basically left abandoned for someone to come in and take beautiful photos. She claims that when she walked in, there were no guards or security, and she hopped over the fence.
#5 North Brother Island, East River
A small island in East River was originally uninhabited and was used in 1885 to use as an island to treat diseases and to quarantine people from the mass. Diseases like small pox were treated in this island. The buildings and structures in this small island show how life without humans can be like. It has a unique history and beautiful sights.
#4 SS Ayrfield, Australia
On Homebush Bay on the south back of the Parramatta River, holds a hauntingly beautiful 102-year old ship vessel. It now grows a forest of its steel surfaces and holds some history. It is also known today as the Floating Forest. Even though many ships in this area were broken apart and out of the “ship graveyard” this one was left alone because of its attraction to visitors. The massive steal boat is now corroding and being taken by nature itself.
#3 Fishing Hut in Lake of Berchtesg
This was founded in 1978, and now that it is owned by state, it is protected from any violators of nature or of national park property such as this fishing hut. Surrounded by greenery and steep mountains, this fishing hut is placed where the water reflects. It’s small and a bit rustic, but holds character and a beautiful landscape.
#2 Pripyat, Ukraine
After the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster, the city was evacuated and left abandoned ever since 1986. Pripyat used to be a very populated and peaceful city with normal structures and buildings. It wasn’t until Chernobyl disaster, it was a clear indication on what the lack of human life and care can do to a structure or building over time. The decay and life in the city is at a standstill, but still holds unique images like this one above.
#1 Angkor Wat, Cambodia
This temple began as a Hindu temple, and then switched to a Buddhist temple complex in Cambodia. It was meant for religious escape and dedication to one’s peace of mind. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the 12th Centruy and is being taken over by natural groves and curves of tree trunks and land.
